If you have ever come across the words 憇tart fasting for weight loss' then you should know that you have to avoid that diet plan. It has been proven through years of dedicated research and studies that fasting is certainly not the best friend for your health, in fact it can cause you some serious damage in the long run and hence it is best to avoid these starvation diets. Many of you must have come across the term anorexia, which is used for all people who try to look skinny or loose weight by not eating.
This form of obsessive eating disorder is where the patient starts to believe that by not eating they can look thinner and loose weight. In this illness the person suffering from the same goes on a no food diet and literally starve themselves for days at a stretch. By not eating the person who is starving gradually steps into a disorder that can be fatal and has lead to deaths in many cases. Hence starving and not eating is just the beginning of the problem and the obsession starts to pick on from here. Often the person does not realize that he or she is suffering from a compulsive eating disorder.
One of the biggest myths about starvation diets are that it helps you to loose weight but unfortunately, it is just the opposite. Starving can actually make you put on weight instead of loosing weight and there are many people who occasionally starve their bodies. The results of these diets are that have reverse of weight loss for them and there are two ways of the same happening. In this first process the dieter does it unconsciously because when they are busy with work or other preoccupations, they prefer not to eat or forget about it.
Another reason for the starvation diet is that the dieter is not eating purposely. Thus the idea of not eating is motivated to deprive the body of food and try to speed up the process of weight loss. However the body starts its own defense mechanism when the body goes into the starvation mode. During the process of this defense mechanism, instead of burning more calories, the body tries to intake the maximum number of calories it can from the food and drink which you consume.
Though you may lose weight initially because the body is using up its fat deposits, in the long run the body tries to save or deposit these calories in the form of fats in lean tissues and muscles. This also results in lower metabolic rate and the body is able to burn fewer calories to and the process of weight loss becomes much slower. Also the calorie intake is decreased which leads to short term weight loss but in the long run the body slows it metabolic rate further. As the body starts getting its regular supply of food, the body starts to gain weight instead of loosing weight.
Hence you should avoid all forms of diet that encourage fasting and starvation because you will cause more harm to your body in this process.
