Weight management means properly and consistently following the good old rule of prevention is better then cures. A person is better off watching his weight consistently, rather than reaching some important day in his life and realizing the dream out fit just will not fit. Firstly one should get committed. The extent to which a person will succeed in managing his weight depends entirely on him. The first and foremost key step is to get committed. A person should commit himself to get a good health. Weight management is beyond any shallow concept of just an apparent physical beauty; but this is all about the right to a healthy and enjoyable life. Most of the people everyday reminds them what a blessing good health is, how much they deserve to be thus blessed.

One must know his body well and should also get to know himself. They should also find out what should be their ideal, normal healthy weight, what their Body Mass Index (BMI) is, are they overweight, underweight or normal weight etc. The answer to all these questions can tell them what areas they need to work on.

One should analyze his calorie intake by making a thorough analysis of the current diet. One should give a serious look at each of his food categories; carbohydrates, proteins and fats contents and also how much of each category are they eating rather which makes up most of their diet.

A person opting for weight loss must consult his physician to discuss the findings. They must discuss their goals and get the doctor's professional opinion on it.

It is highly recommended to plan a Balanced Diet. One may either consult a professional dietician to help him designing a perfectly balanced diet according to his preferences, or gather enough information to make one for him. The balanced diet contains larger proportions of high quality protein such as fishes, white meat, healthy fats like olive oil, highly fibrous foods and minerals found in green vegetables.

One must also plan a routine. Once a person gets decided that he is going to manage his weight, had necessary input from professional, it is time to make a proper routine that he will adhere to. One should give his body the importance it deserves and think ahead about what he wants to accomplish and set realistic targets and strive sincerely to achieve them.

One should never jump on the fitness rollercoaster; but take things slow at first. Before setting out to get abdominal muscles it is better to do small exercises. Jogging, brisk morning walks, casual cycling, etc are the way to go.

It is most important to take up activities one enjoys doing and should do them with the people and company he likes. One can watch-out for health shows; some TV Channels really go to the length of seeking expert health advice from the best health experts and medical persons. Watching out such programs and listening to what they say can be of great help. It is very bad practice to self medicate, but people should discuss new areas with their physician as well as note down general advice that may be a simple change in routine with very pleasant results.
