What goals or dreams do you have inside of you just waiting to be expressed and achieved in the world? Would you love to lose weight for good, go traveling or leave a boring job? Would you like to make more money or do something more meaningful with your life? I know exactly what this feels like.
My wake up call came a few days before I turned 20 when my body completely shut down on me, leaving me bedridden for months. Doctors wanted to put me on experimental medication, but I was guided to listen to my intuition, and instead embarked on a natural, holistic healing journey. And as I did so, everything in my life began to shift.
On my journey, I lost over 60 pounds naturally and have kept it off for over 10 years. I also healed my body of chronic health problems, including asthma, eczema, hypothyroidism and allergies, amongst many others. Finally, after so many years of feeling frustrated, tired, defeated and stuck, I began to feel more energized, creative and self-confident.
So how did I do it?
1. Step outside your comfort zone.
Renowned author W.L. Bateman says, "If you keep doing what you've always done, you'll keep getting what you've always got." So if you want to change something in your life, you'll need to do something different: step outside your comfort zone, the way of living that feels natural and normal.
When you start to do something different, especially at the beginning, it's probably going to feel uncomfortable. On my own weight loss healing journey, I experienced limiting and fearful thoughts whenever I embraced new ideas, foods or different lifestyle habits. Although fearful thoughts and emotions can feel very real, remind yourself they're illusory. Recognize that uncomfortable thoughts and feelings naturally arise when you do something different or brush up against the edge of your comfort zone.
With practice, these new thoughts and feelings will turn into healthy habits, which will one day feel natural.
2. Have the courage to grow and go after what really matters to you.
When you start doing things differently and it fees uncomfortable, it's crucial to remain brave no matter how scary the change seems. Remind yourself this isn't "natural," but stay present and be courageous. Let this gentle exploration expand what's possible for you. See what new things you can discover and learn about life and yourself. The more you try, the more flexible and adaptable you'll become.
3. Get comfortable with change.
Whatever you want to achieve — whether it relates to relationships, health or finances — know that you can do it. All of your life’s challenges are an invitation to heal old wounds and to grow into a fuller expression of yourself. When you make a decision to do something different, you'll shift old patterns and habits. This will change the results you’ve been experiencing so you can start creating the results you really desire.
