If you are interested in boosting your metabolism and burning more fat, we’ve got some simple and healthy moves for you!
Why make things difficult? Do things during your day and you will be seeing results in no time.
1. Start your day with coffee: If you are looking to boost your metabolism, you do not have to give up your cup of coffee. The caffeine in coffee and green tea actually works to naturally stimulate your central nervous system. Your coffee can boost your metabolism by 5-8%.
2. Eat a whole grain breakfast: If you want to keep your metabolism humming, never skip breakfast. Eating within an hour of getting out of bed will get your metabolism revving and help you burn energy effectively all day. A great and satisfying option is a breakfast of whole grains as they contain a large amount of dietary fiber and complex carbs. And if you are looking to lose weight, it might be best to eat your carbs in the morning. Give it a go and see if it works for you.
3. Drink more water: Sitting at your desk all day isn’t ideal for your metabolism but as long as you are getting enough water, you are helping your body burn fat. One University of Utah study showed that people who drank eight to 12 glasses of water a day burned more fat than those who only drank four. If straight water isn’t cutting it for you, try adding fruit. Infused water is a super yummy way to keep yourself hydrated. I’m sipping lemon and lime infused water as I type…
4. Go for a HIIT workout: All exercise is good for metabolism but if you are looking to maximize your time and benefits, high intensity interval training is the way to go. These types of workouts not only burn a good number of calories per minute, they can also boost your metabolic rate for up to a half hour after you’ve completed the workout. Browse through our workouts to find the right one for you!
5. Have a high protein lunch: Eating clean is essential for getting your body to function at it’s fullest potential but eating protein can give you an extra boost. As clinical and holistic dietician, Esther Blum explains, high-protein foods take more work to “digest, metabolize, and use, which means you burn more calories processing them.” Pop some protein at lunch and you’re setting yourself up for results.
Told you they were easy changes! No excuses!
