Changing The WAY You Walk Could Cut Your Flab By 15%!

Walking is something you’ve mastered in life. One foot in front of the other, and you reach your destination. Because it gets you where you are going, you’ve likely not thought much about it. But, apparently, it isn’t all that simple. Believe it or not, most of us are not walking correctly!

Fitness expert, Joanna Hall, is the creator of “Walkactive,” a technique that she claims can turn walking into a full-body workout that will slim, tone and improve posture!

We all know that walking is good for us. Recent reports and studies have suggested that a brisk 20-minute walk could be enough to help you decrease your risk of a heart attack. That’s good news on its own, but if those results can be improved upon, even better!

Hall believes that most of us are walking incorrectly as a result of our sedentary lifestyles. Too much sitting in the course of our day has led to short and tight hip and leg muscles, and a slumped posture.

One of the worst things we do is walk with a “passive foot.” This means, instead of rolling through the foot from heal to toe, we plonk it down like a wooden block. Avoid shuffling by putting your lead foot down, heel first rolling through the ball of the foot and up onto the toes. The back foot should also be left on the ground for as long as possible. This may seem like just walking to you but if you really focus on it, you’ll realize the difference. Although you aren’t doing anything super strenuous, you will notice it in you calves and thighs. Walkactive also involves moving the arms in a controlled way that open the shoulders and creates a natural rotation that helps work the core muscles located around the waist.

After 7 years of working on this method, Hall submitted it for testing at London Southbank University. Compared with walking normally, those using the Walkactive technique experienced an increased speed of 24%, improved posture, less stress on joints and a 15% fat loss around the middle.

That’s right, getting a healthier, trimmer body could be as simple as going for a walk!
