We’ve all been told the same thing for decades: never eat at night. For those of us who are looking to drop weight or are trying to avoid gaining, we accept this as gospel truth. But, the science has evolved over time and things are not nearly as cut and dry as we once thought.
It is time to settle this matter once and for all!
A 2005 study published in the journal Obesity Research, found no link between eating in the evening and gaining weight! This information lead nutrition professionals to say that snacking at night would not spell disaster for your diet.
In 2008, researchers found that people who eat between 11pm and 5am eat more calories per day and put on more weight over time. Basically, if you just eat whenever you feel like it, including at odd hours, you may be eating more overall.
