Snacking On This Before A Meal Could Help You Lose Weight

Your mother may have told you that snacking too close to dinner will ruin your appetite but we’re here to tell you that it may actually help you avoid overeating and lead to dropping weight!

In a study published in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, researchers analyzed 33 previous studies on protein consumption and found that the more protein people eat, the more likely they are to stay full. This shouldn’t be a real surprise when you consider that previous research has suggested that protein takes longer than carbs and fat to digest so it stays in your stomach for a longer period of time.

This study suggests that loading up on protein rich foods before a meal can prevent you from overeating. The authors of the study found that people having a small protein-rich snack before a meal, felt more satisfied than those who had a low-protein snack or no snack at all.

Analysis of previous research, like what was done in this study, can’t be broadly applied to everyone, in every situation, BUT, if you are struggling to lose weight and have a voracious appetite, it might be worth a try.
