10 Superfoods For New Mom – Part 1

Are you a new mom? Have you put on weight lately? Is that extra baby weight taking the sleep away, apart from your baby’s cries? Are you seriously trying to convince yourself that you’ll never get back to your previous shape? Well if you are, you can stop doing that, because you can surely lose that baby weight and get your shape back. You just need to know what you must eat and what you must avoid.

Experts say that during pregnancy your body consumes food for you and for your baby, but once you give birth your habit of consuming similar amount of food continues to persist. That is where a little information will help you to control that intake, yet give you what your body needs. At the same time, this healthy eating will burn fat and give you energy for doing everything.

The foods are:

1. Eggs

Start your day with a really good breakfast and don’t forget to include eggs in it. Generally yolks are prescribed to be avoided because of the cholesterol factor, but in this case, do have the yolks. This is because according to some studies, our body is unable to metabolize the protein without the yolks. The cholesterol in the yolks will not increase the blood cholesterol. Also, post delivery, your body recalibrate hormones. Hence the cholesterol is actually helpful in normalizing the sex and reproductive hormones.

2. Beans

Iron deficiency or anemia is something very common for women during this period. CDC predicts nine percent of women with such issues, resulting to fatigue. Beans contain iron, proteins and fiber and hence it’s a slow and steady source of energy. Also they control hunger and make sure you do not overeat.

3. Whole milk yogurt

Instead of the fat free ones, go for whole milk yogurt, because animal fat which is naturally occurring is good and healthy. They give you all the healthy fats and restore back the hormones to normal, hence you can burn fat. It is also called the Greek Yogurt and since its full fat, it does not need sweetener. Some berried might come in handy to keep the blood sugar steady and boost up the fiber

4. Leafy green vegetables

Leafy green vegetables like spinach, broccoli and kale contain iron, folic acid, fiber and low calories. Studies have found the absence or shortage of folic acid may connect to depression and also drain energy, hence leafy green vegetables are of much use.

5. Salmon

Wild salmon contains higher quantities of omega-3 fatty acids and lower quantities of toxins. Fat and protein is needed to keep the blood sugar level steady and also serves the purpose with less eating. Eat the salmon along with the skin to help metabolize the protein.
