Detoxification through Aromatherapy

There is a group of essential oils that help boost your body’s natural ability to cleanse itself.  By using these essential oils in the bath or by massaging them on problem areas, you would benefit from a stimulated lymphatic circulation.  Namely these oils are citrus fruits like Lemon, Orange or Grapefruit or on more of a middle note you can find that Juniper Berry and Cypress are also very effective.  You might also want to consider using some oils such as Rosemary and Geranium, which help boost microcirculation and the natural production of Collagen in the skin.

Detoxification, aromatherapy and weight loss

Detoxification is the actual process of eliminating toxins from the body.  We live in a world were toxins are inevitable and we are unwittingly assaulted with dozens of toxins on a daily basis.  Alternative health remedies are great because they are toxin free and natural. They are in the food that we eat and in the air that we breathe.  Fortunately enough, our bodies are equipped with a toxin eliminating system that works hard to try keeping us clean on the inside.  The main part of this system is called the lymphatic system.  The lymphatic system mostly depends on movement to function well and many times, due to lack of exercise or because of high levels of toxins, this lymphatic system tends to get somewhat clogged.  A build up of toxins in our body leads to a feeling of heaviness, sluggishness, fatigue and even weight gain – the latter can be due to either water retention or actual weight gain. Weight gain and being overweight are not however, necessarily an indication of toxin overload. You may be genetically predisposed to obesity and suffering from sluggishness and fatigue as a result of an unhealthy diet. If you have a history of this in the family or suspect it might be genetic, you may wish to consider DNA testing.

How to use the Aromatherapy Essential Oils

The bodily application of essential oils should always be anticipated by a brisk exfoliation of the area of concern.  Using a salt in oil scrub, walnut or hazelnut kernel or a cactus bristle body brush would prove to be effective.  This prepares the skin and clears debris from clogged pores, increasing the skin’s ability to absorb the oils benefits.  After carefully choosing which oils you are going to use, dilute a maximum of 10 drops of essential oil in a carrier oil of your choice and apply on the problem area.  The oils are absorbed into the skin and start working by stimulating the circulation, breaking down the toxins and helping clear a pathway for their elimination.  This is would call this action a diuretic and detoxifying action as it is helping to eliminate excessive fluids and toxins.

Aromatherapy oils can also be used in the bath.  A brisk exfoliation of the area of concern would also be of benefit in this case.  Run a warm bath and add maximum 10 drops in total of your choice of essential oils.  Lie in the water and relax ensuring to practice some deep breathing techniques to encourage absorption of the benefits of the oils through the lungs.
