This question is one of the most common questions I receive from clients. Do fat loss supplements really work?
We've all seen the before and after pictures which look amazing. What we don't see is the retouching of photos and they are also using experienced fitness models. In addition to taking the supplements, the fitness models on the advertisement are following a strict diet and exercise program.
The super quick fix is every where. They tempt us from store shelves, from infomercials and from glossy magazine pages. You probably know someone who is taking a diet pill or a fat loss supplement and you've probably tried them yourself.
So let's breakdown 3 common fat loss supplements.
* Appetite Suppressants: Appetite suppressants stimulate dopamine production which converts to epinephrine and nor epinephrine. These neurotransmitters can be stimulated by the amino acid Tyrosine. Once stimulated, this supplement and others cause an appetite suppressant effect.
* Stimulants: The common stimulant or ingredient in fat loss supplements is green tea extract and caffeine. The noticeable effects are a mild appetite suppressant, increase in energy, and they mildly raise energy expenditure in the body. The most important benefit that I see with these supplements is an increase in energy before workouts. I've noticed this effect with myself and my clients. I'm able to workout harder and run faster - this indirectly leads to fat loss.
* Fat Blockers: These pills inhibit the enzyme lipase, which is responsible for breaking down fat during the digestion process. Therefore, after eating a fatty meal in theory you are less likely to store body fat.
So, given all of the outrageous claims, which one of these really works? For myself and my company I only sell the appetite suppressant/stimulants. I've never been a big fan of Fat Blockers. But before I recommend any supplement to a client I always tell them that without the right diet and training program don't buy these supplements. These supplements work together synergistically with the right program - without exercise, they simply don't work well.
Also, you should consider that the models on the ads are already at the top of the genetic bell curve. It's relatively easy for many models to get in shape compared to the average person. Please don't be fooled by the 搎uick fix?advertisement. If you would like to take a fat burner, take this in addition to starting a new diet and training program. Over time, you will see results.
To get you started, I would like to list a handful of positive motivating factors. Many are motivated by negative motivating factors such as 揑'm so fat, I hate myself?or 揑 look and feel disgusting? While these negative techniques work, I would emphasis that it is much healthier to focus on the positive benefits:
* Raise Self Esteem
* Improve Sleep Pattern
* Feel Younger Than Ever
* Increase Weight Loss
* Strengthens Heart and Lungs
* Increase Strength
* Renew Confidence
* Stimulate Endorphins
* Improve Mood
The bottom line is that true weight loss can't be achieved by a supplement. If you really want to lose weight and if you're looking to make a positive change in your life than please start a new fitness program and eat healthy. This is the best gift you could give to yourself and would be the best investment you could ever make.
