Many people who want to lose weight and get into better physical shape often look towards the superstars that they see on television as their role models and wish they could look like them. Most people believe it is out of reach to look so good thinking there is some special formula, diet or the hiring of an expensive personal trainer that is responsible for their slim, curvy bodies.
People can mistakenly believe that you need thousands of dollars to be able to learn these special techniques from a trainer. Although it is true that there are special systems that are able to get people in top shape with very little time spent, you don't have to spend a lot of money to find out how to do it.
The first thing that people need to understand is that just spending time in the gym or working out does not mean that you are going to see results. In fact, you could spend an hour or more a day in the gym, but that doesn't mean it will equate to a slim and trim body.
You see, the real secret is not in quantity of time spent working out, but quality of time spent working out. You can get a workout in 30 minutes that would be better than a 2 hour workout in the gym, simply by upping the intensity (the degree of difficulty).
If you want to lose weight and get in shape, you are going to have to put some 'effort' into your exercise program. You will need to coerce your body towards change it doesn't just happen thinking about it. When your body is forced to adapt to your intense workouts, it starts to ramp up your metabolism (your body's engine), which will then start burning more fuel (calories) every minute of the day even when you are resting or sleeping.
Your body also starts to run more efficiently, which provides you with increased energy and strength which makes it easier to put even more 'effort' into your program. Strength training exercise will give you the most 'bang for your buck' so your program should contain at least 60% of this type of exercise.
Each time you perform your strength training program you need to make sure it is
'progressive' which means you are adding more intensity to each exercise in some way. This could mean an increase in the weight (resistance) you use or a couple more repetitions. You should always focus on becoming a little stronger each week.
By toning your muscles you will burn excess body fat in the fastest possible way. The balance of your exercise program should be made up of interval training. These are short bursts of all out activity followed by a recovery period. An example would be 10 seconds of sprinting followed by 30 seconds of walking repeated 10 or more times.
This type of activity is now considered way more efficient for fat loss than the old fashioned long, slow, repetitive activities such as walking, jogging or cycling that were recommended in the 1980's until recently.
By using these principles you can turn overweight and out of shape bodies into stunning lean and trim shapes. Once you have helped your body switch on the fat burning machinery and muscle building processes, the rest just takes care of itself. The techniques are not unique and they are not complicated, but they have to be applied consistently for best results.
These are the same methods that the Hollywood stars use to get in shape and are the same method that you can use to look and feel your very best. Try trading quantity for quality of workout and see how it works for you. It is pretty much guaranteed you will be pleasantly surprised.
