If you ask around your friends and family it would seem that most of them would like to lose weight or improve their body shape. The problem is that most of these people want to lose pounds in days when it usually takes alot longer than that. It is also true that the majority of these same people haven't got a clue about how you lose weight and listen to anyone who will talk about it who also have no clue. No, didn;t think so. Don't depair though, all is not as bad as it seems, because they are some secret methods that you can use to speed up your weight loss and therefore keep you motivated to carry on.

1. Stop eating junk food and Takeaway
Kind of obvious really so what is the secret? Well the secret is that i know dozens of people how have shed over 60 pounds just by cutting out these foods and doing nothing else. Rather than counting calories, work out how long that Mcdonalds Meal will take you to burn off. Doesn't quite look so appealing when you have to run for an hour and a half just to cancel it out.
An Indian takeaway has the same calories as your entire recommended daily intake. Just think of how many meals you could have in its place. Swap all your greasy and sugary foods for healthier alternatives. If i am craving sweet food, I eat fruit. If I crave savory I eat Sardines or Tuna.
2. Drink a Lot of Water- Although you may have heard it over and over again, it is really true. For over 20 years now I have drank at least 5 pints of water a day. Get a pint glass and everytime you drink it fill it back up and have it next to you. For work take a 2 litre bottle in and try and finish it throughout the day. At first you will go to the toilet alot but your body will get used to it after afew days and this will reduce the frequency of your visits.
Drinking water helps to flush out all the unwanted fats and toxins from your body and helps keep your energy levels up. If you want to burn fat you need energy. If you are fully hydrated your body will burn fat quickly whereas dehydration will stop you from burning fat. The problem is our own body is particularly bad at telling us that it is getting dehyrdrated. When you feel thirsty, you were actually dehydrated hours ago. The secret with this is to look at the colour of your urine. The darker it is the more Dehydrated your body is. Ever noticed that on the morning after the night before your pee is really strong smelling and dark? Alcohol dehydrates the body.
So keep drinking enough water to maintain clear urine. You will feel better, i guarantee it.
3. Reduce your portion size
You are better off eating 6 small meals throughout the day than 3 large ones. This will increase your metabolism and help supress your appetite. This will help you burn more fat without doing any additional exercise and you will even burn more fat whilst you are asleep.
A good guide for portion size is to use the palm of you hand as a guide. ie.cereal, one handful, portion of vedgetables about the size of the palm of your hand.
4. Reduce your calorie intake
To be honest, if you do step 3 well enough, then this step will kind of take care of itself because you will automatically start to reduce your calorie intake due to smaller portions. The worst thing you can do is cut down too much too quickly as this leaves you feeling hungry and the cravings get stronger. Guess what, you won't last very long doing that. None of us would.
5. Start some exercise
If you think that by doing all the other stages here you are losing pounds then just imagine how much quicker you would burn the fat if you helped it along a little. By doing exercise you will compound the fact that this will increase your metabolic rate even more which in-turn will start to burn more calories faster. You will have more energy which will help you convert this to more exercise which equals pounds coming off. It is like a snowball effect once you get going. The hardest part is stopping it, but we will worry about that when you are looking and feeling fantastic.
SLEEP - Your body will need it after all these changes, so let it recover knowing you are still burning the pounds off whilst dreaming of how good you will look on the beach.
Thats it. Thats all there is to it. Just keep doing it and you will literally see results in a matter of days. You will lose pounds in days but try not to place so much emphasis on the scales. Use the mirror and how your clothes fit different as the true measure. Very few Body Builders who do nothing but seek body perfection actually use any scales to weigh themselves. Well, not that much. They do however, look in the mirror alot more than the average Joe. Take it from me. Ignore your scales. Bin them. They are now redundant just like your takeaway menu draw.
