Feel Like Giving Up On Your Weight Loss Goals?

When you reach a point where you cannot lose weight no matter what you do, you may feel like throwing in the towel and giving up for good Don't! There's likely some very simple explanations why you can't lose weight, and when you resolve them the weight should begin coming off.

Are you overeating?

Sometimes you will be eating and you just don't realize how many calories you're consuming so you eat much more calories than you would like to. Create a list of everything you normally eat and drink everyday, and calculate how many calories it adds up to. A fast and simple method to calculate how many calories you should be consuming is to multiply your current weight by 10. This gives you a ballpark figure of the amount of calories you should consume to maintain your present weight. Naturally this is just a general figure and it depends on how active you are and how fast or slow your metabolism is. To lose a pound per week you'll want to reduce the amount of calories you eat by 500 daily, that will create a 3500 calorie deficit weekly which would equal approximately 1 pound of weight loss. So, if you have to consume 2,000 calories to maintain your body weight, you'd want to cut back to approximately 1,500 to lose weight.

You don't eat enough

Believe it or not by not eating enough you can sabotage your weight loss plans. Whenever you significantly decrease your calories you initially start to lose weight, however your body compensates for the reduction in calories by slowing its metabolism thus as time goes on it becomes increasingly more difficult to lose weight. Once again, figure out how many calories you're eating daily and if necessary you may have to bump it up a bit. However, don't bump it up by eating junk food. Instead, choose higher-calorie healthy foods, like drizzling some olive oil on your salad, or eating an ounce or two of trail mix for a healthy snack. And eat smaller meals more frequently, rather then 3 substantial meals during the day. It'll keep your body's fat burning systems running more smoothly and efficiently.

You don't get enough physical activity

You are unable to lose weight easily if you don't exercise because working out helps you avoid being forced to reduce your calorie intake too low. If you cut back 500 calories daily and work off an additional five hundred calories each day you'd be on track to safely lose two lbs per week.

Your Diet is Poor Quality

What kinds of foods are you eating every day? Are you eating mostly whole, natural foods, or do you mostly consume processed foods that are high in fat, sugar and sodium? Needless to say, your weight loss is going to be easier if you feed your body good quality foods. Your body needs the right vitamins and nutrients to work smoothly and burn off fat more efficiently so be sure to eat well-balanced nutritious foods to enhance your weight loss.

Medical Issues

If you still cannot lose weight even though you have addressed all of the preceding concerns, there could be some medical reason for your sluggish weight loss problems. Two that come to mind are an under-active thyroid gland, or a medication you're taking that's interfering with weight loss. These two things are well known for slowing your ability to getb rid of excess weight, and you should speak to your physician to find out what's really going on.

Just don't get discouraged and lose hope and give up. Just because the weight doesn't come off easily it doesn't mean that you won't be able to achieve your weight loss goals, you just need a little more determination and perseverance than the average person.
