Overweight And Underestimated

Let me start off by first saying that I have never personally had a weight problem myself, I was blessed with a very generous metabolism in which I am very thankful for. However, I happen to have a couple of loved ones that are very near and dear to me which were not, and that my friends has taken me on a rollercoaster of a journey. I was blind to the subject because I was in the dark on it and I simply didn't understand how severe the emotional impact could be on someone who suffered from being overweight until it affected someone I love. So I made a vow to myself to help as much as I could because they had clearly given up, and it paid off handsomely.

The purpose of this article is not so much on the do's and do not's of dieting, but rather the drive it takes to get where you want to be. Let's face it, everyone is looking for easy weight loss because the trials and tribulations that come with it can be mentally and physically overwhelming. There really isn't anything different that I can tell the one who wants to lose weight that they don't already know. But I feel that inspiration is the ultimate key which unlocks the door to weight loss motivation.

At the beginning, optimism was prominent. A new weight loss plan was introduced and the goal was in the crosshairs. The first day was full of anticipation as new and uncharted territory had begun to be explored. The diet went on as planned for a couple of weeks. It was a very strict diet which consisted of carefully selected foods formulated by an array of weight loss recipes and some vigorous workouts. The third week rolled around and I couldn't help but notice how the optimism turned to disappointment and frustration. The high dollar foods along with the anguish from the strenuous exercises began to hinder the human spirit. Needless to say, the mission was aborted with minimal results.

Shortly thereafter, I'd say around two weeks, a new plan was set to take off. There was a new miracle diet pill that promised the world for those in pursuit of weight loss which was accompanied by the best foods for weight loss. So, just like before, the spirits were up as day one kicked off after they arrived in the mail. The pills stated that you could eat what you want twice a week with minimal exercise and you would lose 20 lbs. in the first month. Well, the first week passed with no results. Okay, maybe they take a couple of weeks to kick in? The second week rolled around and 3 lbs. were lost, alright, now we're heading in the right direction! The third week was now here, the scale reads 1 more pound lost, not exactly going at a rapid pace here, but we'll take it. Now comes the fourth week, if these pills do what they claim then you should be 20 lbs. lighter. Unfortunately 8 lbs. were gained and we're back further than when we started.

I couldn't help but see the despair in my loved ones eyes. Trial and error was now on the brink of extinction as the thought of giving up looked much more appealing. The pursuit of rapid weight loss was heading toward a road block. If you don't try then you'll never fail was the motto at that point. Well, sad to say, there were many more trial and errors that always ended with disappointment. Products and plans came and went on a monthly basis. Good money thrown after bad for years and the thought of weight loss success stories were just a pipe dream.

Then one day I ran into somebody that I went to school with. This guy was obese as long as I could remember and I would have never recognized him if he hadn't approached me first. He is six feet three inches tall and last time that I saw him he was roughly 350 lbs. and after ten years, he couldn't look better. He now maintained a weight of 190 lbs. and I couldn't hold back from asking how he did it. We made small talk awhile as we tried to catch up on lost time and reminisced about the old days. I proceeded to tell him of that certain someone I knew who wanted to lose the weight and keep it off. He walked to his car to get a pen and wrote down a website for me to go to, he told me to go to it and follow the plan of attack which it stated and the results would come.

I was a little hesitant to even be a part of another diet plan or product, but I went home and checked it out anyway. After contemplating awhile, I decided to give it a whirl and order it. Within a week it came in the mail, we started the process and within a week 6 lbs. were lost! Now this is satisfaction but we didn't want to jump the gun because the weight has been lost before only to be regained. But the day never come where the weight returned, and they continued losing steadily until they met their goal in which they still maintain today. The moral is to never give up, everybody gets discouraged. I believe that fate brought me together with my old classmate on that dreary Sunday morning. The fact is that failure comes with success and with success comes rewards. Don't ever give up on your goals for weight loss.
