How to Diet

Most diet programs work on one basis, very low calorie intake ! Now most people go about their diet program to lose body fat in the wrong way. Practically all of these low calorie diets will actually produce weight loss at the beginning. However the problem is that none of them work for very long. Also it is impossible to lose fat permanently simply by starving yourself as the human body is far to smart for this ! Because when you starve your body fat you are also starving the muscle tissue and when you starve the muscle tissue you will lose you muscle tissue along with your unwanted fat. So when you lose your muscle you slow your metabolism down and then your body actually enters into starvation mode.

Now when your body enters into this starvation mode your body fat loss comes to an abrupt halt in an attempt for your body to conserve energy. So when your fat loss stops you probably give up any diet program and in the process gain back the fat you lost. Or maybe you grit your teeth and drop your still calories further. If you so do that your metabolism slows down even more ! Then when your metabolism slows down more your fat loss again comes to a halt. The conclusion being that you end up quitting simply because you can not keep dropping your calories. So as you can see it is a vicious cycle it is impossible to win the low calorie diet plan.

So to be able to lose body fat you do need to create a calorie deficit, there is no way round that fact. Now a calorie deficit means that you need to burn more calories than you actually consume in a day. So there are two ways you can create this calorie deficit. Firstly you can decrease your caloric intake from food or secondly you can increase the amount of calories you burn through more exercise. Either method can be used but burning the calories is the healthier and more efficient way as well as being more permanent. There is a phrase that sums this up you need to burn the body fat and feed your muscle. This means that you do not need to starve the fat with a low calorie diet it means you need to burn the fat with exercise. In the process it will keep your muscle mass intact, this can be done with weight training as well as sufficient amounts of nutrient dense foods. You do not want to lose muscle when on a diet program. The answer is to allow your self to eat more of the correct foods and then use exercise to burn off the body fat. Most people make the mistake of cutting their calories to crippling levels and not taking enough exercise which slows the metabolism and decreases lean body mass which in return puts your body into starvation mode. Taking exercise will allow you to create a calorie deficit as well as burning off excess body fat without slowing down your metabolism.

A win win situation I am sure you will agree !
