Want to Lose Weight? Drink More Water

Most people in the Western world have a little extra weight they would be healthier without. As many as 60 percent of Americans are overweight - but they aren’t the only ones afflicted. At least 30 to 40 percent of Europeans are now overweight as well. Being overweight is now an epidemic throughout most of the world, and the media serves us a steady stream of medical advice about how to solve the problem. Of course, their view is of surgery and the latest harsh weight loss drugs cranked out by pharmaceutical companies.

What has largely been overlooked are the simple, natural things that can greatly aid in weight loss. Diet and moderate exercise are important to weight loss, but even simpler than that is to drink plenty of water. There are so many weight loss benefits to drinking water that being more hydrated can make the difference between achieving a healthy goal weight and not being able to shed those pounds.

The liver plays the most crucial role in weight loss by changing the fat stored in the body into energy. This change is helped along by a steady stream of clean water, which helps the liver to accomplish its task. When there is not enough of an intake of water, all of the organs, including the liver, are not working at their best performance level, and many of the organ functions are slowed. To keep the liver doing it’s fat burning job, the water must continue to come in.

Curbing the Appetite

Another way that water can help with weight loss is by creating a feeling of fullness. When a person feels full, they are not inclined to eat as much, resulting in fewer calories being taken in. While so many people are taking harsh chemicals in an attempt to curb their appetites, all they really needed was to jumpstart their intake of water. To keep the feeling of fullness, drinking water throughout the day can help to alleviate cravings and to keep the dieter from overeating.

In addition to the full feeling, a generous intake of water works in other ways to keep the body from eating too much. When people experience food cravings, it’s often because there just isn’t enough water in the intestines. When there is plenty of water coming in, digestion generally happens easily. But take away that water, and the intestines have a much harder time doing their job of breaking down the food we eat. Without those vitamins and minerals coming from our food, we experience overwhelming cravings, leading to overeating and weight gain.

Not Just Any Water

Water is excellent for getting our bodies into the best condition to lose weight. But if that water is full of harsh chemicals, it may not be doing as well as we think. The key to getting the best weight loss uses out of our water is to make sure it is the purest possible. A simple home water filter will ensure that the liver and other organs are not spending their time getting rid of the water’s impurities but are focused entirely on helping us to lose weight.
