Here is a simple recipe for the Perfect Protein Pancakes:
Only difference is the portions-1 pancake for women- typically 2 for men
Ingredient:
-3/4 cup of Organic Old Fashioned Oats (I use country Choice Organic from Trader Joes)
-4 Egg Whites
-1-2 teaspoons of Cinnamon
-1 scoop of protein powder (strawberry, vanilla, or banana) I prefer Jay Robb Strawberry or Banana Whey Protein
- 1/2 Banana or 1/2 Apple (I use Organic Gala Apples)
Preparation Time:
About 5 minutes to prepare and cook
Directions:
Mix all ingredients into a bowl and mix very well. I prefer to mix it up well and then put into a blender for
30 seconds until it looks like a Pancake mixture otherwise it will be much chewier and not cook as well.
Spray pan with non stick cooking spray or olive oil and preheat the pan while mixing ingredients. Temperature
on Medium or slightly higher. Cook on one side until starts to bubble and lightly brown then flip over. Only takes a couple minutes per side.
Serving Size: Makes 2 medium to large pancakes. Men usually eat 2, women usually eat one and can wrap the other in foil and eat later. Can easily eat on the run.
Toppings:
I like to put Organic strawberries or Blueberries on top or put Organic Blueberry Jelly from Trader Joes on top. If you want to sweeten it up instead of syrup try Agave Nectar from Trader Joes or Whole Foods. The glycemic index is very low as opposed to syrup. For an even sweeter snack you can add Fat Free Cool Whip on top.
Also for added toppings and essential Healthy Fats you can add Walnuts on top.
Cinnamon: Has very interesting properties. It will sweeten up the pancakes but it also has many healing properties.
Reducing blood sugar levels and treating Type 2 Diabetes.
Lowering cholesterol.
Aiding digestion.
Treating diarrhea.
Curing the common cold.
Reducing arthritis pain.
Boosting memory and cognitive function.
Treating toothaches.
Eliminating bad breath.
Curing headaches and migraine pain.
