First ask yourself why you’re doing it and how many pounds of muscle do you want to gain? Don’t do it if you’re insecure because guess what, you’re still doing to be insecure and have low self esteem whether or not you gain pounds of muscle and look like a ripped bodybuilder.
True self worth and self value and self confidence comes from within, no matter what you look like, whether you have a set of six pack abs or not.
Assuming you want to gain pounds of muscle for healthy reasons like you want to excel in sports or you need to be stronger on your job then the next question is to ask how much muscle you want to gain and make goals. It takes strength to become strong. It takes discipline to become a disciplined person. So figure out your goals and work hard to achieve them.
Workout at least 4 times per week with aggression and determination that doesn’t waiver. Remember each workout depends on your last workout and each workout in the future depends on what you’re doing today. Translation: don’t cheat and don’t go light with the weights.
Before we talk about how to gain pounds of muscle, let’s talk about diet first. Make sure to drink plenty of protein drinks, within 45 min after your workout.
Personally I like to drink them about 15 minutes post workout as this is the time the body is in need of glucose. I like sun warrior protein powder and raw hemp seed protein powder. Hands down it is the cleanest and most bio available protein powder on the market today.
Now let’s talk about workout strategy to gain pounds of muscle. You DO want to gain pounds of muscle right?Crunches and leg raises to start get the cardio going, get the heart rate up and get the blood pumping. Superset these guys with high reps (around 30 to 40 reps) and only two sets each.
Workout each body part with 3 different machines. I like to only workout 2 body parts per day in the gym. So that means I’ll be doing 6 different exercises.
So for example that might look like 3 chest exercises and 3 back exercises in one day. This will help you lose belly fat and really gain pounds of muscle quick.
Generally what you want to be doing is very low reps, around 8 to 10 to start with is good, and very high weight. Ideally you want to get down to about 4 to 6 reps. On your last rep, you shouldn’t even be able to lift the weight by yourself. You should be struggling to total muscle failure.
Make sure to get a spotter to help you lift the weight because you’re going to be pushing yourself well beyond your comfort zone here.
Only allow about 60 seconds of rest in between each rep or exercise if you can at all help it. This is the way to gain pounds of muscle my friend.

Lots of weightlifters in the gym seem to gain muscle mass but not many of them gain what I like to call lean muscle mass.
There is a difference from regular bulky muscles to gaining lean muscle mass. You don’t want to be fat and muscular. For guys and girls it’s ideal to get the shredded and cut look. That’s what I think of when I think of how to gain lean muscle mass. The first thing I would do (if you eat meat) is to get off of factory farmed meats. They are loaded with growth hormones they inject into the cows and that has strange effect on our bodies. Ever wonder why 10 year old girls are starting their periods or why young boys are starting puberty at age 10? It’s happening younger and younger.
It’s because of the growth hormones in cow flesh and cow milk. If you’re going to eat meat and drink milk for your protein, I suggest buying raw milk (Organic Pastures is my favorite) and grass fed organic beef (I like Millers Organic Farm) to prevent you from putting on fat while you’re gaining muscle.
How to gain lean muscle mass comes down to doing more exercises with a little bit less weight. That’s how you get that shredded and lean look while still putting on muscle weight.

How do I gain muscle strength? I get this question all the time. In order to do this you need to spend 70% of your efforts on functional whole body workouts. Isolation exercises are good but they change the look and shape of the muscles, not necessarily allow you to gain muscle strength.
Our body works as a whole single unit, so isolation your muscles is not really that natural. Also if you really want to know how to gain muscle strength don’t forget your legs. You see it all comes down to hormones. The more testosterone you have the more you’ll build and repair muscle as well as increase your metabolism. How do you gain testosterone you ask?
You build testosterone by building muscle. What muscle releases the most testosterone after it is worked out? You legs muscles because they’re the largest in your body. So if you want to know how to gain muscle strength, make sure to build your legs.
Also don’t forget to rest, recover and recuperate. This is when your muscles actually grow, not when your in the gym breaking down their fibers. Now how to gain muscle size is completely different. Muscle strength and muscle size can be synonymous but many times they aren’t. The guys in Ironman Magazine are not necessarily the strongest guys in the gym. They just look like the biggest.
