Weight Loss is easy right? Eat in a calorie deficit, incorporate more exercise and cardio into your daily routine and you will burn fat and lose weight. However, putting this into practice every single day can be tough. Sure the first week of dieting may seem easy but overtime it will eventually get harder to stick to your diet on a consistent basis. However, in order to keep burning fat or maintain your current weight you will need to be consistent with your eating habits. Consistency is the key to a lot of things and weight loss is no different! Here is one great tip you can use to help you achieve permanent fat loss and keep your body in tip top shape:
Write Yourself Some Goals!
Setting yourself some short and long term goals is one of the major steps towards achieving permanent fat loss. Goals are powerful! Write your goals down in a word document on your computer or on a piece of paper. If you write them down on a piece of paper hang them up somewhere in your bedroom or in your kitchen so you see them every single day. This way you can refer back to them when times get tough and they can serve as a constant reminder as to what you are looking to achieve.
It’s important that we set a number of short term goals as well as a long term goal. Short term goals will help motivate us more because they can be achieved in a shorter time frame. Short term goals should be both achievable and specific. ‘To eat better in the next 4 weeks’ is NOT a good goal to write down. Write down something like ‘To lose 6 pounds of fat in 3 weeks by consuming between 2000-2200 calories every day’. This is far more specific and is definitely achievable if you focus on it and put in the effort.
By writing out goals like this and sticking them up in your bedroom or kitchen somewhere will make you more determined and focused on your weight loss attempts. By hanging your goals up somewhere where other people can see them will also help you stick to them, especially when they keep asking about your progress! Once you achieve one of your short term goals try rewarding yourself with something. This does not necessarily have to be food but could be something like a new item of clothing or a new CD you’ve had your eye on.
Obviously your goals will change overtime and you should remember to set new ones once you have reached (or even failed) your current ones. Once you reach one of your short term goals you need to immediately follow it up with another one. If your short term goals have somehow altered your long term goal then you should rewrite this as well. Remember that by achieving your short term goals you are taking major steps towards achieving you one main long term goal. Be consistent with your eating habits, train hard and constantly set yourself both small and long term goals to keep you focused and motivated. If you can do this then you wont have a problem melting away that stubborn body fat and maintaining a lean and healthy looking physique.
