Perhaps one of the simplest ways to reduce tummy fat and improve the look of your body is to improve your posture. All the muscles in your torso are inter connected to some extent, the back and stomach muscles form a sort of girdle around your body. If you work on strengthening your back muscles and your stomach muscles together then your posture will improve and your tummy will look more like a toned stomach.
To get started here are a couple of simple exercises you can easily do at home to improve your posture.
Stand Straight
Hardly an exercise but lets start off easy! Always try to stand or sit up as straight as possible whenever you can. Simple so long as you remember to do it! Standing straight has a number of benefits. Firstly it actually makes you look slimmer than when you are slouching which just accentuates your belly fat. Slouching can also lead to back pain, and if you have back pain then it is harder to do some of the other best stomach toning exercises.
A good straight back enhances blood flow through the body to the lower back and legs and again this will help you with other exercises to tone your stomach. And lastly standing straight improves the strength of your back, which will help you to maintain a good posture for longer.
Back Extension
For those of you familiar with exercise routines you might recognise this as a sort of backwards crunchless crunch. To start lie face down on the floor, you might find it more comfortable on an exercise mat or maybe use a folded towel to cushion your head and body. Keep your arms by your sides with palms facing upwards. Now contract your back muscles to lift your upper torso and head off the floor. Hold it there for a few seconds and then slowly release the contraction and lower your body back to the floor. Repeat this ten times.
For the second part of this exercise, still lying face down, extend your arms out above your head, sort of like superman. Now keep your head and arms still and lift your legs a little. Hold them there for a few seconds and then slowly return them to the floor. Try to imagine your legs are growing as you lift them. Again repeat this ten times.
Now these two exercises won't tone your stomach in a week, but they will help to strengthen your back and stomach muscles and greatly improve your posture, and these are important first steps if you want to learn how to reduce tummy fat at home.
