If you are starting a new fitness program and looking for a get in shape over night program they are as elusive as get rich programs. Fast weight loss is not a myth, it is a state of mind as is muscle building, or endurance racing.

In order to really get in shape and stay in shape you must realize that you need to make a commitment not just for the next couple of months, but for the rest of your life. You must make life style changes that will lead you to be more active on a regular basis. You must learn how to exercise not just your body but your will power. It will not happen over night but it is something than can be learned with practice.

The reason most people gain the weight back after a diet is because they do not make the long term changes necessary for a healthy life style. Diets will help you loose weight, but they will not help you keep the weight off because they are often not sustainable.

Fast weight loss needs to be a combination of many factors. The two biggest factors are diet and not exercise, but an active lifestyle. This means that you have to get in the habit of taking the stairs, of walking to the store instead of driving, you need to pick up a sport and you need to have active hobbies, you need to play with your kids like they play. Swing from the monkey bars and play tag, you might have some fun. It may sound crazy but try to move as much as a kid. Consider getting a stand up desk for your office. The point I am trying to make is that you need to be active. Weight loss is not about what you do at the gym it is about what you do the other 95% of the time you spend living.

If you want to achieve fast weight loss, or any rapid change for that matter, drastic action is required. You cannot sit and wait for things to happen, you must make them happen.
