“How to lose weight.” Unfortunately, it can be hard to find a clear answer to that question with the sea of tips and tricks that are out there floating around on the internet.
To successfully lose weight, there are a number of things you should and should NOT do.
Do NOT try a fad diet
Some of the best advice we can give you to lose weight is: do NOT try a fad diet. Fad diets can be tempting because they promise extreme results in little to no time. But if it sounds too good to be true, chances are that it probably is. Fad diets set you up for failure by depriving your body of what you really wants and you can’t eat like that for long. Eventually you’re going to rebel and the cycle will repeat itself.
You should also stay away from anything that isn’t natural like detoxification pills, laxatives, fasting or strict portion control. Those are pretty much guaranteed not to work. Save your money.
Stop the all-or-nothing approach
You tell yourself that you’re going to lose weight and go to the gym three times a week and count every last calorie, but all of a sudden you find yourself grabbing a drink at happy hour with some friends or indulging in a late night snack and then oops, your diet goes out the window. Take small steps and give yourself a pat on the back when you deserve it. Don't go for that all-or-nothing approach.
Skip the inside aisles at the grocery store
The grocery store is tricky because all of the bad food sits in the middle, while the healthy food waits out in the cold on the outside edges of the store. When I was younger, my parents always shopped in the middle section of the grocery store so when I got older, I never thought twice about it. If you want to lose weight, shop the perimeter of the grocery store and avoid the inside aisles.
Exercise!
Don’t get crazy. If you want to lose weight, start off slow and find your comfort level. As you build up your endurance, gradually increase the amount of time you exercise. Once you get comfortable, you can switch up your routine.
Purge
Clean out your pantry so you don’t have any lingering temptations waiting for you at home.
No more late night snacks
Cut out your late night snacks because they’re not helping you. We usually eat junk food at night so totally eliminating the urge will do us a world of good
Try planned meals
Trying out a meal delivery service can be very beneficial if you want to lose weight. Planned meals ensure that you eat around the same time every day, have healthy portion sizes and the proper nutrients you need to lose weight. As an added bonus, they also save you tons of time.
