Some people just never ever quit. They seem to have fierce persistence and determination. They don’t just stick at it when the going gets tough, but even when others are telling them to stop. They never give up. They are at the gym every day and working out like mad. They are completely focused on their goal. If they have any setbacks, no one seems to know about them because they just keep going. Others discard their goals and dreams at the first crisis encountered. WHY?
Almost anyone trying to lose weight experiences setbacks along the way. They can be incredibly discouraging and can make you feel as though your weight loss goal is an impossible target. You tried and failed. However, to successfully lose weight and keep it off, you must understand that there is no such thing as failure, only feedback. You do not “fail”, you are simply learning what does not work and have been given the opportunity to try a new approach. Failure is not the falling down but the staying down.
It is their mindset, their perspective and interpretation of events that separates the winners from the losers. Instead of thinking of failure, the successful truly believe that they “achieved a result” and that the result is simply “temporary”. They have turned it into a positive, valuable and perhaps necessary learning experience. This changes the way they can move forward. And that is the crux of it: YOU experience something, YOU give it your OWN meaning, YOUR interpretation affects how YOU move forward, what YOU will do next.
All that we are is the result of what we have thought.
The successful are looking at the glass half full, rather than half empty. Although that may sound somewhat clichéd, if you genuinely do not negatively interpret what is going on around you, it is much easier to move forward. You do not feel as insecure and embarrassed, you do not feel like a failure, you are not afraid of failure or of trying something new, you are not afraid of what people may say or whether they may laugh at you, and the list of fears goes on. All these fears do not even come into play because – whether you know it or not – they all boil down to one thing: fear of failure. If you do not fear failure the world becomes a much easier place to succeed in.
You may not be able to choose an outcome or experience, but you can choose how you react to it. How we interpret the events that happen to us is ultimately what determines what we do. It is your beliefs of what is possible and impossible that shapes your interpretation and perception of the world around you and thus influences your choices, behavior and actions. As Henry Ford once said: Whether you think you can or think you can’t. You are right.
Rule your mind or it will rule you.
The person, who gives up on a weight loss program or anything else when encountering an obstacle, tends to consider the failure as permanent. Successful people who meet crises or “failure” consider it temporary and a valuable learning experience. They think that perhaps they haven’t found the right diet or have to increase their workout sessions. They know that know that failure does not mean that they are a failure. It simply means that they haven’t succeeded yet. They forget past mistakes. Forget failures. Forget about everything except what they’re going to do now – and they do it.
“Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage.
If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it.
Go out and get busy.”
Dale Carnegie
Without doubt the most important action you can take after you finish reading this, is to go out and study personal success and improvement information AND take action. If this is all you take away from this website, it would be enough. It is the most important. It WILL transform your life.
There is a plethora of motivational books to choose from and as with everything else, some are good and others just plain bad. Motivational books are frequently criticized and dismissed as money-spinners providing little information and even less use or truth. However, the useless money-spinners have managed to succeed on the back of great books that truly work. These exceptional books are the reason and foundation of many of the books that have come after. They have been quoted and unsuccessfully imitated and these are the books that you should and must read. These books will affect any and every area of your life and if not simply read, but also acted upon are life changing.
Ignore the critics and shun the pessimists. Chances are that they have achieved little. If you are not as healthy, wealthy and successful as you would like to be, read the following books. Regardless of whether you are fifteen or fifty, here is a short list (alphabetical) of some of the great ones, classics everyone should read. These are the books I have seen VERY successful people (in business and life) carry around with them – pretty much anywhere. Often, they are so used and dog-eared that the front cover is barely legible. Do not scoff at the tools of successful men and women. Try one book – TODAY.

If you want to start with something small and easy to read, The Greatest Salesman in the World by Og Mandino is a good choice. It may be short, but it is extraordinarily powerful. By all means click on the title of the books to get further information. If you don’t want to buy, remember to borrow them from your local library.
Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough; we must do.
To know and not do, is the same as not knowing.
