Basil Cheese TrianglesIf you are in mood for some 'cheesy' appetizers, here is the recipe for you. Although it will take some time to bake it is no doubt worth the wait.
Ingredients Required...
- 1 pound low fat shredded feta cheese
- 16 ounces phyllo dough, at room temperature
- 2 eggs beaten
- ⅓ cup low fat butter
- ¼ cup basil leaves, chopped
- ¼ tsp white pepper
Preparation...Mash cheese in a mixing bowl, add beaten eggs, basil leaves and white pepper and mix well. Cut the dough sheets into 2 inch strips. Place the strips in a damp cloth, so that the strips do not dry off. Place the cheese mixture about 1 teaspoon at one end of the strip and fold the strip into triangular shape. Once all the triangles are ready, place them on a greased cookie sheet. Brush the triangles with butter and bake them in preheated oven at 400º Fahrenheit for about 12 to 15 minutes, till they are puffed and golden in color. Serve them warm.
