Look out Jared. There’s another fast-food diet sheriff in town. “Christine”, Taco Bell’s new advertising spokesperson, is telling how she lost 54 pounds in 2 years by choosing lower-calorie, lower-fat Fresco options from the fast food restaurant. Thus Taco Bell is unveiling its new Drive-Thru Diet.
Christine lost weight by reducing her total daily caloric intake by 500 calories, for a total intake of 1250 calories a day. Eliminating 500 calories either through diet restriction or by increasing exercise can result in a weight loss of 1 pound per week (7 days x 500 calories = 3500 calories = 1 pound of body fat)
To entice you to try out one of the seven items from the Fresco menu, Taco Bell is offering a printable online coupon for one free fresco taco. (Note that tacos are limited to one per person and are subject to availability and other guidelines as set by the company.)
Taco Bell offers the disclaimer that the Drive-Thru Diet is not a weight-loss program, but about making healthier choices, either at home or in fast food restaurants. Exercise is also noted to be an important factor in weight loss success.
The Fresco menu offers the following choices, which reduce calories by about 20 to 100 when compared to a similar item on the regular Taco Bell menu:
The company will soon also be offering “A Frescolution”, which involves a pledge to make better nutrition choices for a healthier lifestyle. This is in addition to its Drive-Thru Diet menu.
