Shaun Thompson, now a famous physical fitness expert, was born and raised in New Jersey. He attended Rowan University where he received a BS degree in Sports Science with a minor in (you guessed it) Theater and Dance. He has certainly put both of his degrees to very good use. After working as a fitness and health personal trainer and specialist, he landed a job as manager of a health program at WYETH. After that Shaun branched out to other areas, like commercial dance/fitness.
Most of us probably know him from one of his six Beachbody workouts (Hip Hop Abs, Get Real With Shaun T, Shaun T’s Fit Kids Club, Rockin’ Body, Insanity Workout, and Insanity: The Asylum). But that’s not all there is to Shaun’s career. He has been associated with some big names in the entertainment world. He has had television appearances on Six Feet Under, the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and the BBC America Channel. He has also worked for Radio Shack, Boost athletic shoes, Nike, and the Lakers! He also worked with Val Kilmer, Mariah Carey, Elephant Man, Nick Carter and Aaron Carter.
Shaun also worked on the cheerleader choreographies for Bring it On: All or Nothing and he performed in the NCAA Final Four Halftime Show and the Garden State Dance Festival.
According to his webpage, he loves Astrology and track and field is his favorite sport. His favorite kind of music is Alternative Rock and love songs and his favorite food is sushi. He has no pets and he would like to write a book someday.
Now you know that Shaun knows what he’s doing and has an impressive resume, but he’s also just a man that has interests like you and me. Interesting to know who makes you sweat and pushes you to dig deeper, right? So how did he end up on your TV, making you shed pounds right there at home, and getting you closer to your dream body one intense workout at a time?
Shaun’s impressive resume caught the attention of Beachbody, who in turn got in contact with him. Their offer? They asked him to make some workout DVDs for them. The results were excellent, of course. Shaun T put all of his education, experience, knowledge and amazing attitude into a series of workouts that became very successful.
First, back in 2007, Beachbody and Shaun took his vast dance expertise and came up with the now famous workout “Hip Hop Abs”. This workout became the top selling fitness video in the United States and started the Shaun T – Beachbody partnership on the right foot. After the tremendous success of “Hip Hop Abs”, the following year (2008) saw the release of not one, not two, but three Shaun T workouts for Beachbody!
Two of them focusing on battling the childhood obesity problem: The first one was “Shaun T’s Fit Club” and was aimed at children aged seven and up. And the second one was “Get Real With Shaun T”, which was designed to help preteens get in shape and enjoy the benefits of exercise.
The other workout released by this partnership that year was “Rockin’ body”, another super effective workout that included new dance moves in unique workouts that helped costumers shed pounds and shape their bodies to popular music. The amazing sales of all of these workouts leave no room for doubts about their amazing results and customer satisfaction.
After all of this hard work and success Shaun T’s top achievement in the fitness world materialized in July of 2009. INSANITY was released! No more dance music and focusing on music! Insanity honors its name focusing on Max Interval Training and challenging anyone who has the determination to get the body of their dream. Shaun didn’t make it easy for us, but he certainly made it effective!
After all, who better than someone with such an outstanding career to design what many call the best workout ever created? Have no doubts about it, do some research, or even ask around if want to. Shaun T is definitely the best fitness trainer there is out there and Insanity is the workout that will give you the body you never thought was possible.
