How To Keep A Weight Loss Journal


One of the best ways to help you lose weight is to keep a weight loss journal. How do you do this? There are several choices. One is to write down everything you eat in a day and then look at it to determine how many calories you have eaten.

One other way would be to keep track of your thoughts as you progress in your weight loss journey. You can also keep track of the weight that you lose and that will be great reinforcement to keep going.

If you are going to keep a weight loss journal where you record everything you eat in a day, it is a good idea to carry it will you. You can use a simple spiral notebook or your PDA or cell phone to keep track of this. Just do whatever is easiest for you.

That's right, write down everything that goes into your mouth and don't forget the drinks that you consume, like that latte, or mocha that you got at the coffee shop or that ice cream.

At the end of the day, you will be able to figure out how many calories you ate and decide if that was too many or not. Just be sure you record everything. If you cheat, you will only be harming yourself.

Now for the weight loss journal where you record your thoughts about losing weight. If you want you can carry that with you and record your thoughts during the course of the day or you could wait until evening to think back over the day and record those thoughts in your weight loss journal. Whatever you decide, do this several times a day, once a day or, at least, every other day.

For the simplest weight loss journal, record your weight as you lose weight and put that in this weight loss journal. You might start by putting your current weight, whatever it is, and then some place later put your weight loss target. Then just fill in the blanks between one weight and the other.

For this weight loss journal, determine how often you will weigh yourself. For some people, that will be every day. You can be discouraged by that as your weight fluctuates from day to day. However, that works for me and helps me stay on target.

You may find that weighing once a week works for you. Then you will see a change in weight. When you have kept to your weight loss target, you will have reason to celebrate. Celebrate with something you like and not food or perhaps a favorite dish that fits into your weight loss plan.
