Detox is a shortened version of the word "detoxification." In today's world it's nearly impossible for many of us to avoid fast food and pre-prepared processed foods. If you take the time to read the ingredients of any given frozen dinner you'll find yourself faced with a list of substances and chemicals with hard-to-pronounce names, these usually act as preservatives or flavoring. You should also increase the amount of water you drink in order to help the released toxins exit the body.
A Detox Diet isn't for everyone, anyone with liver problems, diabetes, who is pre-diabetic or pregnant should not attempt this diet. Even if you're free of any of these conditions it's still a good idea to consult your doctor before beginning a Detox Diet or any other diet.
Toxins can interfere with your body's digestion and hormone and insulin production making it much more difficult to lose weight, thus a Detox Diet can help you lose weight fast. A short-term Detox Diet of eating primarily raw fruits and veggies and drinking juices and water can lead to some quick weight loss and could be just what you need to begin a more intensive, more long-term weight loss plan. But why can't you stay on the Detox Diet for the long term instead? Because fruits and veggies alone will not provide your body with everything you need, proteins and fats are essential for staying in good health.
