Week one: aim to loose 1 pound in 1 week = failed
Week two: aim to loose ½ a pound in 1 week = failed
Week three: aim to gain 1 pound in 1 week = accomplished
This was my basic weekly result table when I began to do my diet a couple of months ago. As you can see by my poor and failed attempts that nothing seemed to work, no matter how hard I used to try my body was reluctant to loose weight and seemed to love its current weight making it harder for me to curb the carbs and easier for me to pack on the pounds. This is however only due to the mental state of mind I was in. In my opinion to succeed at a diet, you need to be focused, have the right mind set and remain determined. When I done this I found myself gradually loosing more and more weight each week until I reached my desired dress size! Now I will reveal the secrets of how I lost weight and so you can try them for yourself also so that instead of failing at dietary attempts, you can succeed!
The first tip I found helped was staying away from the countless weight loss books and CD's which tell you exactly what to do in order to burn the calories and decrease your current weight. However a dietician said to me 'the thing you need to keep your mind on is watching what you eat and expending more energy than you munch through'. I thought wait, is it really as simple as that? And the truth is... it is! This is the basis of loosing weight and you can work around this, adding other methods and techniques but as long as your keep watchful of this underlying weight loss fact, you can be on your way to official weight loss success in to time!
I found another great aid was joining support groups which made me interact with others that were trying to achieve the same end result as me. This really gave me the needed encouragement to stick at my routine and not feel like I was alone in my road trip to weight loss success.
As much as I hate seeing myself in photographs, I found taking before and after pictures was a great aid to me and others as I posted them up on Flickr!, And created a little article alongside it relating my experience. Looking first handedly at my own success, no matter how small gave me the strength to carry on and also contributed to the feel good factor of being on a diet as when you make small steps it can take a while for others to see it. So notice it yourself first and see how it can boost your confidence!
Another thing you can try is regularly is checking labels on the packets of your foods. This helps you watch what you eat!
