Who wouldn't like to be thin and attractive? We as humans are an inherently vain species. We would love to look attractive and pretty and if we are not; we strive to achieve outward perfection with cosmetics and surgery. This obsession with "thin is pretty and thin is in" is reinforced by the media and celebrities who work over time to look slim and trim. Mother of two, Brittany Spears, was panned by a national and international media that roundly criticised her pregnancy weight. As a result, the poor woman who was already struggling with other emotional issues went into a total mental and emotional breakdown. And she is not the only one to face the flak. Supermodels and starlets like Jennifer Anniston swear by new and revolutionary diets that may help them lose weight but are totally unfeasible for normal people.
Why won't it work with average people?
Celebrities swear by their fad diets and the effects that the diets have had on their life. But you have to factor in the fact that most celebrities only deal with looking good. That is their 24-7 job. Most celebrities have personal doctors, nutritionists, trainers, food consultants and other personnel that deal only with losing weight and combining weight loss with dieting in the right way. But you and I have to deal with households, families, careers and other issues which make losing weight really difficult. How many of us can actually afford to eat only high protein foods and actually measure the food quantities that we eat? It takes a lot of effort and patience to ensure that you are eating right and at the correct amounts when you follow celebrity diets.
A few of the more famous celebrity diets that went kaput!
The grapefruit diet: Now this diet still has several devout followers although we cannot disclose names! The diet advises all to eat according to a set diet plan but with grapefruit juice or whole grapefruits at every meal. There is a whole list of food stuffs you may or may not have. Grapefruits were supposed to have wonderful weight reducing properties but at present, the diet seems to have fallen out of popularity.
Cabbage soup diet: This one was so popular at a time that several film stars swore by it. But there is only so much a person can eat of cabbage. A special cabbage soup was to be prepared according to a set diet recipe and dieters swigged of it the entire day. But one really nasty side effect was virulent flatulence! Dieters had to start on gas relief pills to cut down on the noxious emissions or risk losing all their friends and family. Not many people do follow the diet at present.
The chocolate diet: Now this is my kind of diet! This was really popular as you could eat as much pasta- chocolate as you wanted. But I have a strong feeling that the diet was some kind of hoax perpetrated by nasty-minded tricksters. I have yet to find any kind of diet plan and it was popular but please don't start on it unless you are really sure of the effects of the diet.
