Weight loss techniques have been along since the beginning of Man. In the Stone Age, when the first Homo sapiens began hunting for food, if not enough was caught before winter time, and then people had to subsist on grass and frozen berries. That was probably the first weight loss technique ever done. No, let me change that weight loss technique to a more apt term: survival.
The coming of farming during the time of the Egyptians showcased another weight loss technique and in this case, if a pest ruined a season's crop, then the rationing of grains was made into law. This was another early version of a weight loss technique and what was good about it was that it was the law and everybody had to follow it.
In fact the root cause of wars among other countries and empires had to do with food, the more land you had, the more you could produce and the more workers you would have to plow the land. Losing a war meant that you were again on food ration: weight loss technique due to war.
Even at the modern world wars, weight loss techniques were mandated by countries deep into the war. The countries in Europe rationed meat, wheat and corn for the population so the soldiers could have their food. What's that old saying of Napoleon go "the army runs on their stomachs" or something to that effect. You could say that during those times, there weren't too many obese people. One thing we should never forget though was the worse kind of weight loss technique done to a people because of their religious beliefs: the Jews. Never should that situation happen on earth to any country ever!
We are now a country and civilization that for most part is sedentary. The production of food and goods are always on the surplus, especially for the modernized countries like the ones we live in today and we are glad that there is an abundance of food, as you can see in most groceries, mom and pop stores, and supermarket chains. There is so much food that we have begun to produce food that is healthier: less fat, no salt, no transfat and other items design to help in all weight loss techniques that require a dietary component to keep that lose weight claim true.
Farming now is done mostly with the owner and a few workers operating huge mechanical tools designed to sow, to reap, to harvest, to filter and even to bag. A lot of us work in offices for more than 8 hours a day with an hour for lunch and two 15 minute coffee break times during the day, though we tend to take longer for both lunch and coffee breaks.
So we now try to lose weight by watching what we eat, taking a diet supplement, being members of a gym, or engaging in recreational sports whenever we can. Those that are in shape exercise religiously and fervously while watching what they eat or have a genetic disposition to being thin while those who are not of that shape or of that genetic disposition which by all means is majority of us, including myself, take pains in finding weight loss techniques that fit our personality. Now tell me what you want, how you lose weight now, or how people lost weight in the past. We are lucky aren't we?
