Low Carbohydrate Diets - If you really want to lose weight quickly, one of the easiest ways for you to do it is to go on a low carbohydrate diet, such as Atkins. Some people claim that these diets are bad for you but to be honest, there is really no scientific evidence that they harm you, provided you don't stay on them for a very long period of time. You will restrict the amount of carbohydrates that you eat to under 20 g per day. This will put your body into Ketosis which will cause it to burn fat for fuel. Stay on one of these diets for a few weeks and you will be throwing away your fat pants.
Low Glycemic Diets - This is an often overlooked way of losing weight, but it is one that is very effective. This diet is often used by diabetics in order to level out their sugar levels and to keep them as healthy as possible. It can also help you in a similar way, by not putting too many sugars into your system at any given time and allowing your body to assimilate that sugar with the insulin that it produces. When done properly, this is the quickest way to lose weight that most people can stick to. Eat some meat, vegetables and legumes at every meal and avoid any type of sugars or high glycemic fruit. If you can stick with it, you can lose up to 20 pounds a month.
Very Low Calorie Diets - If you have a weight loss emergency and absolutely need to lose some weight before an important event, a very low calorie diet is the quickest way to lose weight but it is not one that will work for the long term. You can restrict your calories to a very low amounts, some times between 800 to 1000 calories per day. Make sure that you eat plenty of raw fruits and vegetables and then either eat a little bit of chicken or tuna, or drink a protein shake. Don't stay on this diet too long, as it can actually backfire and cause your metabolism to drop dramatically. Even so, it's an excellent way to lose some weight before an important event and look your best.
