If feeling fresh and rejuvenated is something that appeals to you, then you should consider a body detox, as it can help you achieve that feeling. It does this by eliminating from your body the toxins which are keeping you from being at your best. These toxins are constantly building up within you, and the more they do so, the less efficiently your organs are able to operate. As your organs becomes less efficient, you start to look and feel bad, with your weight and energy levels being just a couple of the things that are affected.
These toxins are breathed in, as they are found in the air all around us, in cities especially. Cigarette smoke and exhaust fumes, for example, are full of toxins, and whilst they are easily inhaled, they are not so easily exhaled. Toxins are also to be found in the food that you eat. Processed foods are full of various preservatives and additives, which are effectively toxins in themselves, and once consumed your body struggles to get rid of them. It is not just processed foods that are problematic though, and even non-organic fruits and vegetables contribute to the build up of toxins as they will have been sprayed with toxins whilst being grown.
In order to clean out your body of these toxins, a full body detox is advisable. This includes a number of things...
- Drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day
- Eating at least 5 portions of organic fruits and vegetables daily
- Increasing consumption of wholesome foods (wheats, grains, beans, etc.)
- Taking vitamin and mineral supplements
By doing the above for a period of at least a week, you will give your body the time and strength to flush out the toxins that have built up within you. As this happens, amongst other things, your energy levels will rise, your weight will decrease, your eyes will become brighter, and your skin and hair will be become softer. Side effects of a body detox are minimal, and are only uncomfortable at worst. During the first few days, as the toxins are being flushed out through your skin, and in your stools, mild headaches and slight sweating can be expected. After those initial days though, you will start to feel better than you have done in a long while.
As for when to undergo a body detox, it should be considered any time that you are not feeling at your best, which is typically after any time of extended indulgence, such as after Christmas or a vacation. You do not have to wait until you feel bad to start one though, as detoxing whilst you are already healthy will just make you feel even better. So, if you have not yet started planning your body detox, then now is the time to start. You have no excuse for not starting one today; if you do so, in a weeks time you will be feeling a hundred times better than you do right now!
