Many dieters have the erroneous belief that if they manage to lose weight they will remain slim and trim. Unfortunately this is not always the case. More often than not those pounds just creep back and before you know it you are just the same as when you started your dieting. In fact you have very likely even gained some more pounds. This is not only disappointing but very frustrating.
This is largely due to the way you lost weight in the beginning. Many people go on these lose weight quick diets and manage to lose weight in a matter of a few weeks. They deprive themselves of all sorts of foods to achieve their goal. This will misbalance your body and lead to over indulgence of foods once you stop your diet. In turn this will result in your failure to keep those pounds from coming back.
In order to achieve the best results when losing weight, two factors should be considered...Nutrition and Exercise. These 2 things go hand in hand if you want to lose weight and more importantly keep those pounds from coming back. Here is how they work....
Nutrition: In order to lose weight it is important to eat properly and not rely on "lose weight quick" diets. If you eat in a healthy manner you will lose weight, guaranteed. Now what do we mean by healthy eating?
Simply put it is a permanent way of eating, not a diet that you go on for a few months and then stop. Here are the 4 elements of a healthy diet:
Cut out or at least seriously decrease junk food. This includes; chips, cookies, candies, cakes, donuts and borderline foods like ice cream and sweet juices and of course sodas. Just cutting these out will help you to lose quite a bit of weight initially.
Increase fiber: do not buy refined foods, instead try to select whole grain foods like whole wheat bread and brown rice, plus eat more fruits and vegetables. Fiber will fill you up and help your digestive system. This means that you will eat less and be able to lose weight.
Reduce but never completely cut out carbohydrates, fats and oils. This will help you to lose weight, safely.
Watch your portions: try to eat smaller portions. If necessary use smaller plates. Also be careful to watch your calories, to be sure you are taking in less than you are burning.
Drink at least 8 glasses of water: this will clean your system and fill you up. Plus if you replace sodas with water you will lose quite a bit of weight.
If you continue eating a healthy diet and use these tactics you will not only lose weight but be able to keep it off.
Exercise: There are many ways to exercise and burn off those extra pounds. The important thing is to create an exercise régime and stick to it. If you are doing passive exercise like walking or jogging this should be done on a daily basis. If you are working out at the gym or on a home gym system 20 minutes 3 times a week will help you to lose weight and stay fit.
If you change your lifestyle by eating healthy and exercise on a regular basis, you will not only lose weight but be able to keep it off.
