We've all read books on self-improvement to learn what we need to know about success. However, the fact remains that books are only informational in nature; they can tell you what you need to know and momentarily raise your spirits, but they don't offer lasting change. Oftentimes these books are little more than a brief pick-me-up.
The same can be said for the myriad of diet books, pills, websites, gadgets, and exercise fads on the market. Most of them are complete foolishness and are aimed more at parting you from your money rather than true lifestyle change. So many people invest in such things, only to be disappointed. Some might actually be useful tools - if you make them a part of your daily lifestyle. No fad or quick fix is going to make you look good or get fit.
Be honest: how many times have you read a book, tried a diet, or joined a gym only to fall off when things got tough? In order to achieve true fitness you need to involve both your mind and your body. You need to cultivate a lifestyle that celebrates a combined mind-body workout and make it a part of your daily routine!
For your benefit, I've collected some of my favorite exercise motivation tips. None of these are a quick fix or an easy walk to the body of your dreams. Like anything else worth having in the world, true fitness requires hard work but it is definitely worth the outcome.
Never listen to excuses from the "bad you". Make time to work out no matter what.
Work out at least 5-6 days a week.
If you must miss a day, never miss more than two days in a row, that the road to the dark side...
Overwhelming pain is bad, but some pain during a good exercise is normal. The pain you feel is weakness leaving your body!
If your muscles are sore, don't let that stop you. Do a light workout, such as yoga or easy cardio. This will make you less sore and burn calories.
Don't totally deprive yourself of your favorite foods. Instead, eat them in moderation, and work out a little harder the next day
Don't obsess over your weight! Sometimes it'll seem like you're making no progress, but you're actually gaining muscle, which is heavier than fat.
Once you reach your fitness goal, you must maintain it! You must live like this from now on, or else you'll slip back to the "old" you.
Another thing you may also not know is that the "zone" that many athletes talk about is actually a form of self-hypnosis; to take greatest advantage of this state, many successful people listen to weight loss hypnosis CDs... which can produce amazing results! Check out weight loss through hypnosis media on the internet; adding this to your own firm resolve to become a "new you" can help you on your way to your fitness goals.
