Why My Stomach Fart

Stomach farts, also known as burps, are the result of swallowed air. When you eat or drink, you also swallow small amounts of air. Most of this air is released through the nose or mouth before it reaches the stomach. However, some air can reach the stomach and expand, causing a feeling of pressure and discomfort. When this pressure becomes too great, the air is released through the mouth, often accompanied by a sound. Stomach farts can also be caused by certain foods and drinks, such as carbonated beverages and foods that are high in fiber. In some cases, stomach farts can be a sign of a medical condition, such as GERD or gas trapped in the stomach. If you experience frequent or severe stomach farts, it is important to see a doctor to rule out any underlying medical conditions.
